Diego Baliardo was born in Montpellier, France on 21 May 1951. He grew up playing the guitar with his brothers and is the co-founder of the Gipsy Kings. The GIPSY KINGS group began in 1987 driven by two families in the south of the France, BALIARDO and REYES, who together decided to promote the Gipsy culture and with a line-up of Nicholas REYES, Pablo REYES, Canut REYES, Patchai REYES, Andre REYES, Diego BALIARDO, Tonino BALIARDO and Paco BALIARDO.

Before becoming the GIPSY KINGS, the group was initially called LOS REYES. The trigger came in 1978 when Saint-Tropez’s most famous resident, Brigitte Bardot, invited them to entertain (or rather set alight) a private party. Following this, the group becomes the favorite of the billionaires and were in demand for every reception and party for the international stars.

The group then became the symbol of the party!!! Following this they decided to form the GIPSY KINGS and success came quickly with timeless songs such as „Bamboleo“ which was also the name of their first album, breaking boundaries and become the first Gypsy group to earn a Golden Record in the United States. They went on to win Group of the Year in the 1990 Victoires de la Musique.

In their 35-year career, they have had many weeks at the top of the charts with „Volare”, „DjobiDjoba”, „Baila me“, „Hotel California”, „Bamboleo“… Few groups have had such universal success. They were awarded the 2012 Le Prix de la SACEM (Society of Authors and Composers and Music Editors). The GIPSY KINGS are today still the best ambassadors of Gypsy culture and remain the top-selling artists for records in this genre.

Diego has toured the world with the Gipsy Kings. They won a Grammy Award for Best World Music Album with “Savor Flamenco” in 2014. The Gipsy Kings have done as many world tours as the years spanning their career. They remain famous all over the world. They have sold more than 20 million albums in their thirty-five-year history. They are still the French band that has sold the most records globally.

Diego Baliardo has always ensured the artistic continuity of the works of the Gipsy Kings, on the road internationally with his band made up original members and those of a new generation – „Gipsy Kings by Diego Baliardo“.
